Guidelines For A Successful Vein Procedure
Following Proper Pre-Op Instructions Will Set You Up For a Successful Vein Procedure
Our doctors have created this helpful list of do's and don'ts for the days leading up to your procedure.
Use this as a general guide, but reach out to your specialist if questions or concerns arise.
- If taking Xanax be sure to arrange for a ride to and from procedure.
- Take Xanax first pill one hour before procedure and second pill upon arrival.
- Shower before your visit, as you will likely not shower for two days following the procedure.
- Do not use moisturizers or lotions on your legs on the day of treatment.
- Try to avoid Aspirin-like products (Motrin, Advil, Aleve) for 7 days prior to surgery unless otherwise advised by our office. Tylenol may be used if necessary.
- Make sure to let the doctor know if you are on blood thinner medication.
- Wear loose fitting clothing and easily removeable shoes.
- Bring your compression stockings with you.
- Be sure to eat breakfast and drink lots of water.
- No caffeinated beverages (coffee, tea, soda pop, etc) on the day of surgery.
- Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time.
- Stay standing/walking until we call you back to the procedure room.
