The Doctors & Staff of Alaska Vein Care

Corey Johnson, MD

Corey Johnson, MD

Dr Corey Johnson is a native of Utah.  He graduated magna cum laude from Utah State University with a B.A. degree in chemistry.  He then attended the Medical College of Wisconsin (formerly Marquette),  graduating in 1988 and then did a  Family Practice residency in Casper, Wyoming.  Following his residency training he returned to his home town where he worked in Family Practice  for seven years.  He then became a full time Emergency Medicine physician until 2006 when he completed specialty training in Phlebology (vein disease) and opened his vein practice.  Because Phlebology is a relatively new sub-specialty, there was no board  certification available at that time.   In 2008 when the American Board of Phlebology was established, Dr Johnson  became one of only 248 physicians in the world to be granted diplomat status.  He is an active member of the American College of Phlebology.

Dr. Johnson's free time is devoted to whatever his kids are doing, including snow skiing, riding snow machines, and playing tennis.  He also reads history books and loves to build things from reclaimed lumber.  He serves in his church and is a leader in the boy scouts.

Joseph Ty Bell, MD

Dr. Joseph Ty Bell, MD

Dr. Bell earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill. He then completed his residency in family medicine in 1991 at the University of Wyoming—Casper, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Bell sought out his residency training program due to its heavy emphasis on surgical and minor surgical procedures. Dr. Bell completed his training and performed operative obstetrics, gynecologic procedures, and in-office procedures such as colposcopy and vasectomy.

In 1992, Dr. Bell carried his procedurally oriented training into his switch to full-time emergency medicine. In this field, he maintained a reliance on his surgical/procedural training in the treatment of his patients in the emergency department, some with life threatening conditions.

With the advancement of laser/injection medicine for the treatment of peripheral venous diseases, and undergoing the modern laser treatment for his own varicose vein problem, Dr. Bell was drawn to another avenue in procedural medicine, and in 2005 began offering the latest therapy for peripheral venous disease, in the emerging field of "Phlebology" (modern vein medicine).

In his leisure time, Dr. Bell enjoys traveling with his wife and 2 grown children, spending time with friends and family, bicycling, backpacking, flyfishing, and skiing.
